Review and Swatch of Lakme 9-5 Lipstick in Shade Roseate Motive

You can’t agree more when I tell you the story of my rendezvous with Roseate Motive. The quest started when I first saw it on my colleague. She is olive complexioned and the shade flattered her so much that I decided to have it in my life.
First, I checked it online. Nykaa was my first choice, but for the past 2 weeks the site has been behaving weirdly. Nothing gets added in the cart and by any chance if it does, the payment tab doesn’t open. What’s wrong with you Nykaa??! If any of you readers have been also encountering the same problem, please let me know so that I stop suspecting my computer!
Then I checked Flipkart, Jabong, Myntra and Purple. None of them had it in stock. Finally I went to Medplusbeauty. They had the stock……yay!! But soon the climax was revealed. They had stock that could have been delivered only in Hyderabad. For Mumbai it was “NOT”. Then I decided to lift my butt and head to Lakme counters in Lifestyle and Pantaloons at Phoenix Kurla. Still no luck.
Feeling deprived from my new found love and dismayed as if the world had come to an end I returned home. And I once again went through the online cycle to realize that soon I would have to be hospitalized for depression if I didn’t get hold of Roseate Motive.
With no hope I entered Shoppers Stop at Rcity Ghatkopar. Asked the SA if she had Roseate Motive in stock. Anddddddddd……..her words sounded like music…She said “YES”. In my mind I was already a dancing Cinderella!

My Verdict:
We all have already read so much about the rose gold packaging of the 9-5 range (re-launched ones) that it doesn’t need an introduction. It looks so edgy and classy.
The shade is rosy coral with golden shimmers. I am generally not fond of shimmery lipsticks or glosses. But the shimmers in Roseate Motive is NOT overpowering. They just settle to give a shiny luscious finish. On hand swatch or pale lips it’s more rosey in color. I have dark lips and therefore the appearance is more “brickey”-coral. Nevertheless it looks so flattering for my kind of skin tone( I’m NC 42). From Olives to duskies, it’s a good rosey lip shade to carry to work.
The lipstick is very creamy to apply and swipes without tugging. 1-2 swatches are enough to get an opaque finish, thus proving that the shade is very pigmented. Initially it may not feel matte. But after a while the lipstick settles to give a satin matte finish. Doesn’t feel drying or heavy on lips.
Speaking on its longevity, though the color gets considerably transferred, the fading rate is quite slow, making it noticeably visible even after lunch, which is almost 4-5 hours since I applied it. After the 5th hour the first layer of lipstick is vanished. The stain, which is in by itself quite pigmented, remains till 7-8th hour along with mild shimmers. Overall I am equally impressed by its lasting power.

Overall Recommendation:
Lakme 9-5 Roseate Motive has nailed it by giving us a perfect rose shade that can worn during the day and night both. It offers a creamy application and matte finish. The longevity is superb. The price tag makes it even more appealing and nothing to complaint about. Highly Recommend.
