Review and Swatch of Nivea Fruity Shine Lip in Cherry

There are something which just don’t go hand in hand, like Katrina Kaif and acting, Abhishek Bachchan and dancing,,,,,,let me think more…………………Salman Khan and Virginity!!! (Remember how he prevaricated in Koffee with Karan’s latest season). Did I just sound mean??

OK!! All those Kat, Junior B and Sallu fans out there……no offense pls…...But I so much mean the above lines!! HA HA!

So as I said there are many things that don’t go together. Nivea proves this to us with their “Fruity Shine in Cherry” Tinted lip balm. I mean, lip balms and sparkles!!  (Pun intended- please note I mentioned “sparkles” and not “shimmers”.

My Verdict:

Nivea Fruity Shine in Cherry is a tinted lip palm in Cherry red shade in the tube. On lips and finger swatch its cool toned berry pink. But it’s more silver than pink! These lips balms are positioned as tinted lip balms and has good amount of color hint.

On the contrary I was misled by its name or say my inference. My inference of “shine” meant the in-built quality of the balm to be luscious and glossy. But I was disappointed to see chunky shimmers errr, rather sparkles in the balm candle. When swatched on hand the shimmer would look seamless and a part of the balm. But when swatched on lips, they appear very distinctly. It also feels coarse on lips.

The lip balm doesn’t last on lips for long and requires constant touch up. Makes me look like a lip balm addict in office. Once the color wears out you are left with chunky silver particles on the lips that looks sick and weird.

The balm has very strong fruity smell that makes me go dizzy. Oh!! Did I also tell you it tastes “SWEET”. Yes you heard (read) my right Ewwwww!! Every time my tongue touches my lips and I get this yacky feeling of licking sweet lipbalm.

The only good thing about this product is the price and packaging. Comes in a twister version. Feels hygienic and is very petite and travel friendly.

Pros:

  1. Believing the contents, it’s got SPF.
  2. Good coloration for a tinted lip balm
  3. Well suited for pigmented lips as well
  4. Not pricey
  5. Convenient packaging

Cons:

  1. Contains Sparkles instead of shimmer
  2. Shimmers feel coarse on lips
  3. Poor lasting power
  4. Color fades leaving chunky shimmer particles behind.
  5. Very very strong fragrance
  6. Not tasteless- I mean Yes, it “tastes” SWEET!

Overall Recommendation:

Do I really need to write this?!! I am sure by now you know might have guessed what I am going to say ahead. Honestly, I don’t recommend this product. There are many other good lip butters in the market to try. This is just not my cup of tea.
