Reviewing Bobbi Brown Long Wear Gel Eye Liner- Black Ink 1

10/07/2013 23:02

The moment news of Bobbi Brown store launch in Delhi went viral on the internet with the Top Bloggers blogging about the launch; I knew my next post is going to be on the only product I own from this legendary make up brand- their most sold - The Gel Eye liner. Nevertheless I will soon own their other products as well, now that they are present in India, specially the foundations, blushes and the corrector. But Ms. Brown, please make it soon to Mumbai else I will have to keep asking someone from Delhi to get me these highly desired objects! (Mrs. London, if you are reading this, you may very well know by now that you are the “chosen one”, the scapegoat!!)

As per Bobbi Brown- “This award-winning liner gives you the look of liquid liner with the ease & feel of a gel formula. Long-wearing, water-resistant color glides on & lets you get it just right before it dries - then stays without a smear or crease.

- Selected as a "Best Beauty Buy" by InStyle Magazine (May 2013).

Price: 23 US Dollars for 3 gm, guess approx. INR 1400 (not sure what’s the retail price in India)

My Verdict: Had this gel eye liner been a guy, I would have got married to it. The way it works and the effect it gives is marvelous. As claimed it is absolutely long lasting and smudge free. It stays on my eyes without fading for almost 12 hours. The fact is I sweat so much in this humid Mumbai and surprisingly it’s still intact when I peep into the mirror once I am home. It doesn’t even vanish out when you take a midday face wash! The application is so smooth on my eye lid that I feel as if my brush is just gliding…absolutely frictionless.

Though there are a lot of shades available in this range, I use black. Be it a smoky eye look or a bold defined wing this just gives the look you want.

The eyeliner comes in a teeny tiny glass jar that you may feel is not enough. But the matter required for every application is so less that it will easily last you more than 6 months in spite of using every day. I am a totally Kohl person. The eye liner can be applied on the inner water line and doesn’t cause irritation. I wear lenses and I can vouch on the last statement that I just made.

I am not very fond of the brush that the company promotes with this gel eye liner. It’s not free and is costlier than the eye liner itself. Also I feel the bristles are not long enough. I prefer Inglot bent brush 30T which I use for any gel liner application and is absolutely miraculous.

Pros:

  1. Smudge free
  2. Super Smooth
  3. Can be used for both smoky and bold wing liner look
  4. Looooooooooooong lasting
  5. Material required per application is very less

Cons:

  1. Though recently launched in India, currently only available in Delhi
  2. Mumbai beauties can get it from the Beauty Shop @ Lokhandwaala

Will I repurchase: You bet!!! Superlatively Yes.
